Peta Walzak

Peta graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) from the University of Sydney in 2003. Peta completed a research Masters degree at the University of Sydney in 2009. She has worked in private practice, preschools, primary schools and TAFE. Peta joined the team at The Gabrielle Centre for Children in 2012.

Peta's Story

Peta has over 20 years of experience working with children and their families in the areas of: language, speech, fluency (stuttering), voice, feeding, Autism, ADHD, disability and developmental delay.

 

Peta has implemented group programs in preschools focusing on collaboration with teachers and therapy through play. She has used alternative and augmentative communication in preschool and the home environments. Language and articulation programs have been implemented in primary schools with small groups. She has worked in an early intervention team working with carers, teachers and other health professionals with children who have a developmental delay. Peta is involved in individual and group-based supports and is passionate about children understanding their strengths, advocating for their needs, developing peer-based connections and support networks.

 

Peta is a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia. She has completed a Certificate IV Breastfeeding Education (Breastfeeding Counsellor) and additional training in orofacial myology.

 

Peta is committed to ongoing professional development and family centred evidence-based practice as she works with children and families in achieving their goals.
